Insurance for Kindergarten, Day Nursery Proprietors

Introduction
The risks facing the proprietors of day nurseries, kindergartens, creches and playgroups are many and varied. To protect you from these risks we are able to offer an affordable policy underwritten by one of the UK's most reputable insurers. The cover can be tailored to suit your individual requirements.

Cover available
Excesses apply to certain perils or sections of cover. Full details of these and any exclusions or limitations will be provided in your policy document or policy summary.

Cover can be arranged for:

• Buildings (including Architects' and Surveyors' fees)
• Business Interruption (including failure of supply and denial of access)
• Contents (including temporary removal and staff's and children's personal effects)
• Employer's Liability
• Engineering Inspection
• Freezer Contents
• Legal Expenses
• Hired or Loaned Property
• Loss of Registration
• Metered Water
• Money (including assault cover and losses due to dishonest staff)
• Out of School Clubs
• Personal Accident for staff (plus death/permanent injury benefit for children)
• Public and Products Liability (including Nursery nurses' professional risk) - Limit of indemnity £3m

In addition, there are dedicated 24-hour help-lines for legal matters, emergency repair services and confidential counselling. The basis of cover is Fire and Specified Perils plus Accidental Damage. There may be some variations according to the nature of the risk proposed but generally, the Special Perils will include lightning; explosion; earthquake; aircraft; riot & civil commotion; storm & flood; escape of water; malicious damage impact; falling trees; and theft. Subsidence and Terrorism cover may also be available.

Notes for Guidance

Buildings
The sum insured should represent the FULL COST OF REINSTATEMENT, plus debris removal and professional fees. You are recommended to take professional advice in this regard.

Contents
The sum insured on should be sufficient to replace all the contents AS NEW. An inventory can be very useful in this respect but remember that an inventory produced for the purpose of buying or selling the business shows a market valuation, not the replacement cost

Business Interruption
When considering the Indemnity Period you should reflect on how long it would take to reinstate the property after a major loss. If you choose a period of more than 12 months, remember to increase the sum insured accordingly.
